The All Languages story

My parents had recently immigrated to Canada from Italy when they began personally providing translation services in 1971.

Their “yes we can” attitude combined with an innovative spirit has been a guiding principal to All Languages becoming Canada’s longest continually operating multilingual linguistic services provider.

Then Italian teachers at a Toronto post-secondary institution, students asked if they could also provide written translations. Next was verbal interpretation, French, additional languages, notarized translations, transcriptions, technology, voice-overs and so on. If asked about helping people communicate, they said “yes”.

My parents believed passionately in making a difference through language. They also knew embracing change was the key to offering a level of service at volume that stands the test of time. I grew up hearing about the importance of consistently delivering quality service, fast, and at competitive rates.

No longer involved in the business, their legacy is at the heart of our DNA; changing with the times and delivering quality written and verbal services in a rapidly evolving market, at scale. You can count on us to apply tried and true methods to consistently deliver quality service that meets your evolving needs.

It is a privilege to work with great people of diverse backgrounds and leverage the power of language. Coming to the office after school from age six, I’ve watched how our growing team went about helping enterprises from all major industries achieve their goals, as well as people with access to critical services.

Thank you for your interest in our story. My hope is that you will give us a try, be happy with our service, and like many others continue working with us for decades to come.

Who we are

As translation and interpreting providers, we are driven by the need to be diverse in all we do. We are committed to providing equitable access to our subcontracting opportunities. Our suppliers are typically female, nearing retirement, and sole proprietors with fewer than five employees. Working across more than 180 languages, our clients and our team represent the broadest possible cross-section of society across religions, gender, and cultures.

Recruitment

We are proud of our proactive approach to a diverse workforce. Every day our employees and freelancers deliver world-class translation and interpreting services for our clients. When it comes to selection we focus on education, experience, language capabilities, quality of service, a willingness to communicate feedback and a positive commitment to working within an environment of continual improvement.

Accessibility

At All Languages we aim to fulfill the accessibility needs of our clients and employees. Across all aspects of our business, we continue to ensure our products and services are available to the widest possible audience, regardless of their needs.

Meeting the needs of our customers and employees

All Languages is fully compliant with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. Over the past five years, these measures have enabled us to meet all requests to accommodate the accessibility needs of our customers and employees. Our policy is to implement additional measures to fulfill any new accessibility need as quickly as reasonably possible. Our employees undergo annual training, including a refresher course on accessible customer service.

Audio-visual capabilities and American Sign Language interpreting

Our team have extensive experience and capabilities in voice recording, captioning and video editing. Audio-visual conversions and augmentations can be undertaken on request. We provide American Sign Language interpreting both face to face and over remote video, on-demand.

Written materials and screen-readers

All Languages ensures screen-reader formatting and alt-text which is mandated by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) is preserved in the same state it was submitted. We partner with accessibility specialists to offer AODA remediation services for clients wishing to ensure usability and compliance under Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA, ISO-14289 and AODA. We ensure our documents and spoken-word services are accessible on demand. All company content is written and templated with a view toward AODA remediation for screen-reading software. This includes ensuring our website content is WCAG compliant. We engage Ontario-based accessibility specialists with proprietary software to enable AODA remediation of templated text (including print size) at near-automatic speeds. Training documents can be made screen-reader friendly on a minimum next day turnaround. AODA remediation of print documents is also offered as a post-translation service quoted on a per-project basis.

Sustainability

At All Languages we are focused on a range of measures to mitigate our impact on the environment. This includes transitioning to a paperless office and reducing our carbon footprint wherever possible.

Transitioned to a paperless office

At All Languages our administrative functions are conducted via electronic means including internal correspondence; project tracking and management; accounting; human resources; training and professional development. Printing and photocopying are used only in cases where physical copies of a document are explicitly required, such as for legal purposes including the provision of wet-signed affidavits; or when a client requires courier-delivered hard copies. All files provided to our vendor base are in electronic format. Our standard operating procedures mandate the use of software tools such as computer-assisted translation and transcription as well as online reference dictionaries.

Reducing our carbon footprint

To reduce the fossil fuel consumption associated with our services, we encourage both freelancers and employees to avoid work-related travel as much as possible. By the nature of their jobs, more than 95% of All Languages employees can work remotely. Our network infrastructure and disaster recovery policies support our freelancers and employees to work away from the office, and are designed to ensure the operational continuity of our critical systems in the event of natural disaster or power outage. We have expanded our delivery capacity and are working closely with our face-to-face or in-person interpreting clients to transition toward over-the-phone and remote video interpreting wherever possible.

Translating and Interpreting 500+ languages and locales for over 50 years

We are Canadian French translation experts and work with more than 500 languages. Our team personally manages client projects following global best practices using our world-class infrastructure. Plus, we only assign pre-qualified linguists who have executed contracts and pass per project quality assessments.
