The Little Ruler That Could: 40 Years of Unexpected Impact
When you think of great marketing tools, a thin plastic ruler probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But for over 40 years, our humble little ruler has quietly become a low-key legend — popping up in offices, toolboxes, and even Reddit threads. It’s a classic case of small but mighty.
A Simple Idea That Stuck
We started handing out our branded plastic rulers decades ago — originally as a practical giveaway for trade shows and customer mailings. Durable, compact, and genuinely useful, they were an easy pick. But we never expected the kind of staying power they’d have.
A Cult Following We Never Saw Coming
Over the years, we’ve heard it all:
* Customers calling specifically to request batches of rulers
* Testimonials about how it’s “the only one that never disappears”
* Stories of them being passed from desk to desk, year after year
* Even spotting them in YouTube pool installation videos and random Reddit posts
At this point, it feels like our ruler is more than just a tool — it’s a bit of a mascot.
Designs That Evolve (But the Love Stays the Same)
We’ve updated the design many times — new logos, color schemes, messaging tweaks — but the core has always stayed the same: sturdy, lightweight, and endlessly handy. Whether used for measuring, straight-edge drawing, or opening packages (yes, really), our ruler seems to earn its keep.
Testimonials
In 1988 when I was a first year lawyer, All Languages sent me a ruler in the mail. After 36 years of practicing law, I retired in December 2024 and still have that ruler on my desk. It’s yellowed with age, cracked along the edge, but a treasured memory of my first year of being a lawyer. Here it is.
